Teleprompter

Paste a script below and press Start. The eye line marks where the camera should be looking.

Pacing

Words per minute and font size

Conversational delivery sits around 130 to 150 WPM. News anchors run 150 to 200. Fast podcasters reach 220 to 250.

Pick the smallest size you can read comfortably from your camera distance. A larger font scrolls faster on screen, but the WPM rate stays the same because the math adjusts for line height.

Setup

Countdown and mirror

Countdown

A short countdown gives the camera a beat to roll before the first word appears.

Mirror horizontally for a beam-splitter teleprompter rig where the speaker reads the reflection. Mirror vertically for a ceiling mount that bounces the image down onto a glass plate.

Keyboard shortcuts

  • Space starts, pauses, or resumes the scroll.
  • Up / Down change speed by 5 WPM.
  • Left / Right nudge the script back or forward by one line.
  • F toggles fullscreen, M toggles horizontal mirror, and R resets to the top.

Shortcuts ignore key presses inside the script textarea so you can edit your script without triggering the prompter.

How to use

  1. Paste a script into the editor below, or click Load sample to try the prompter with a built-in speech.
  2. Pick a target words-per-minute speed (the presets cover the conversational, anchor, and podcaster ranges) and choose a font size that reads cleanly from your camera distance.
  3. If you are using a teleprompter glass or a ceiling mount, turn on Mirror horizontally or Mirror vertically. Set a countdown so the camera can roll before the first line appears.
  4. Click Fullscreen to fill your monitor or tablet, then press Start (or hit Space). Use the Position slider, the arrow keys, or click Reset to seek through the script.
  5. Edit the script anytime; the prompter pauses, saves your changes locally, and resumes from the same spot when you press Resume.

About this tool

Teleprompter is a free, browser-only prompter that scrolls any script through a fixed reading window at a speed you control. Drop in a presentation outline, a vlog script, a podcast intro, a sermon, a wedding toast, or a sales pitch, set a target words-per-minute rate, and press Start. A subtle green eye line marks where the camera should be looking, top and bottom fades soften the entry and exit of each line, and a Position slider lets you jump back to a section without resetting. Speed is calibrated in WPM rather than raw pixels, so the rate is consistent across font sizes: 130 to 150 WPM matches a conversational delivery, 150 to 200 matches a news anchor pace, and 220 to 250 covers fast podcast or sports-style narration. Font size is adjustable from 24 to 96 pixels so the prompter is readable from a phone propped on a tripod or a 27-inch monitor parked behind a beam-splitter rig. Mirror Horizontally flips the text for a traditional teleprompter glass; Mirror Vertically flips it for a ceiling-mount that reflects down onto the glass; both can be combined. A configurable 3, 5, or 10 second countdown gives the camera a beat to roll before the first word appears. Native Fullscreen turns any monitor or tablet into a dedicated prompter screen, and the transport bar stays inside the fullscreen view so you can pause and seek without leaving the prompter. Full keyboard support: Space starts, pauses, or resumes; Up and Down change the WPM by 5; Left and Right nudge the script back or forward one line; F toggles fullscreen; M toggles the horizontal mirror; R resets to the top. The prompter pauses automatically when you switch tabs or exit fullscreen so the script does not race ahead while you are looking elsewhere. Your script, speed, font size, countdown, and mirror preferences auto-save to this browser. Useful for YouTube creators, course recordings, livestreamers, video sales letters, conference rehearsals, wedding speeches, podcast hosts who need a tighter intro, and presenters who want to look at the camera instead of their notes. Nothing is uploaded; the script never leaves your device.
