1,973 characters left of 2,000.

Website URL

Optional link to your app's marketing or company page.

34 / 2,000

1,966 characters left of 2,000.

How to use

  1. Type or paste your app's listing copy into each field. Counts update live and turn amber as you approach the Google Play Console limit, then turn red once you go over.
  2. Use the Phone or Tablet toggle to preview where the Title wraps in search results and where the Full description collapses above the 'Read more' link on the product page.
  3. Watch the Short description preview as you type. It is the single most important ASO field because the Play Store shows it in full above the screenshots and again inside search snippets.
  4. Check every URL field has a valid http or https scheme. Play Console rejects bare domains without a scheme.
  5. Click Copy report to grab a one-screen plain-text summary, grouped by Play Console section, ready to paste into a release ticket or marketing handoff.

About this tool

Google Play Character Counter is a free, in-browser companion to the Google Play Console that counts every published per-locale character limit at once for an Android app listing. The Play Console composer splits these limits across Store listing, Release notes, Developer account, In-app products, and URL screens, and the web form only shows a live counter on a subset of fields, so writers and ASO consultants end up pasting copy into Play Console just to see whether it fits. This tool brings every limit into one screen. Each field has a live count, a status bar, and a warn-then-over indicator: Title 30, Short description 80, Full description 4,000, What's new 500, Developer name 50, In-app product title 55, In-app product description 80, plus URL fields for Privacy Policy and Website. Counts are grapheme-cluster aware via Intl.Segmenter where available, so flag emoji, combining marks, ZWJ family sequences, and any complex script count as one character the way Play Console shows them. Two side-by-side previews show what your listing actually looks like to a shopper on Google Play: a Search result preview (Title plus developer name plus Short description truncated to a single phone or tablet row) and a Product page preview (Title, developer name, Short description shown in full above the screenshots, and the Full description collapsed above the Play Store 'Read more' link at roughly 80 characters of plain text on a phone). URL fields run a lightweight parse to flag any value that is not a valid http or https URL because Play Console rejects URLs without a scheme. A Copy report button generates a plain-text summary of every count grouped by Play Console section, ready to paste into a release ticket, a Slack release thread, or a marketing handoff document. Everything runs locally in your browser, so unreleased app copy, marketing drafts, embargoed promo text, and IAP descriptions never leave your device. Useful for indie Android developers, mobile growth teams, App Store Optimization (ASO) consultants who manage both iOS and Android listings, app marketing agencies, and any team writing or reviewing a new Play Store submission or release update.
