What this tool covers

  • Weekly clock-in grid: seven days at once with clock-in, clock-out, and unpaid break minutes per day.
  • Overnight shifts: when clock-out is earlier than clock-in, the tool rolls into the next day automatically.
  • Break subtraction: unpaid breaks are removed from each day before totals.
  • Regular vs overtime: weekly hours split at the configurable threshold (40 by default) with a configurable overtime multiplier (1.5 by default).
  • Optional gross pay: multiplies regular hours by the rate and overtime hours by rate times multiplier in nine currencies.
  • Local only: hours, breaks, and pay rate stay in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

How to use

  1. Pick the day your workweek starts (Monday or Sunday) and confirm the overtime threshold (40 hours per week is the default).
  2. For each day, type the clock-in time, the clock-out time, and any unpaid break in minutes. Leave a day blank for days off.
  3. Overnight shifts are detected automatically: when clock-out is earlier than clock-in, the tool rolls past midnight.
  4. Switch Compute pay to Yes, enter your hourly rate, and pick a currency to add regular pay, overtime pay, and gross-pay totals.
  5. Use Copy summary to grab a plain-text table of the week with hours, overtime, and pay, ready to paste into payroll or email.

About this tool

Time Card Calculator turns a weekly clock-in and clock-out timesheet into total hours, regular hours, overtime hours, and an optional gross-pay estimate. Each day takes three inputs: clock-in time, clock-out time, and an unpaid break in minutes. The time parser accepts the formats people actually write on a paper time card or in a spreadsheet, including 9:30, 09:30, 9am, 9:30 PM, 17:45, and the compact military style 0930 or 2145. When the clock-out is earlier than the clock-in the tool detects an overnight shift and rolls into the next day, so an 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM nurse or warehouse shift is counted as eight hours rather than a negative number. Unpaid break minutes are subtracted from each day before any totals are computed. The weekly total is then split into regular and overtime hours using a configurable threshold (40 hours by default, the US Fair Labor Standards Act standard) and a configurable overtime multiplier (1.5 by default, the standard time-and-a-half rate). Pay mode multiplies regular hours by the hourly rate and overtime hours by the rate times the multiplier, and formats both subtotals and the gross-pay total in nine currencies including USD, EUR, GBP, CAD, AUD, NZD, JPY, INR, and TRY. The calculator distinguishes invalid input from blank days: a missing day stays at zero hours so days off and partial weeks work without warnings, but a half-filled day or an unparseable time produces a clear inline error pointing at the offending field. Every total updates as you type, the day row highlights overnight shifts with a small badge, and a Copy summary button produces a plain-text table of the week ready to paste into payroll software, email, or a spreadsheet. Useful for hourly employees and shift workers reconciling a paper time card before submitting it, small business owners and managers running biweekly payroll without paid software, gig and freelance workers tracking client hours, restaurant, retail, healthcare, and warehouse staff working overnight or split shifts, and HR or bookkeeping teams checking an employee-reported timesheet against the overtime threshold. Time entries, break minutes, and pay rate stay entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.
