About the output files
- PNG with a transparent background drops onto a PDF page, a contract scan, or an HTML email without a visible box around the signature.
- PNG with a white background is friendlier for print pipelines and for tools that flatten alpha on import.
- SVG (Draw mode only) stays crisp at any size and is editable in Inkscape, Figma, Illustrator, or any vector editor.
- The PNG Copy button places the image on the clipboard so you can paste it directly into Word, Pages, Google Docs, Photoshop, or Preview.
Tips for a clean signature
- Use a finger or a stylus on a touchscreen for the most natural line. A trackpad works for a quick fix.
- Sign above the dashed baseline so the lower descenders (the loops of y, g, j) have room.
- Pick a stroke width between 2.5 and 4.5 for a fountain-pen feel; go heavier for a marker look.
- Export at 2x or 3x if you plan to print the signature; the extra pixels keep the curves smooth on paper.
- For a legal-feeling cursive without drawing, switch to Type mode and use Chancery or Roundhand.
Privacy
The pen strokes, the typed name, and the PNG and SVG output are processed locally in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. No account is required and no analytics are attached to the signatures you create here.
How to use
- Pick Draw signature to sign on the pad with your mouse, trackpad, finger, or stylus. Pick Type signature to type your name in a handwriting font instead.
- Choose an ink colour (black, ink blue, navy, red, graphite, or any custom hex) and a stroke width. The dashed baseline shows where the lower descenders (y, g, j) should sit.
- Pick the background: Transparent for stamping onto a PDF or contract, White for an opaque image you can use anywhere.
- Choose an export scale (1x, 2x, or 3x). Use 2x or 3x if you plan to print the signature.
- Press Export PNG (or Render PNG in Type mode) to render the signature. Then Download PNG, Copy PNG to the clipboard, or Download SVG (Draw mode only) for a vector version.
- Use Undo last stroke to remove only the last pen motion or Clear pad to start over.
About this tool
Signature Generator turns a quick scribble or a typed name into a clean, high-resolution signature image you can stamp onto a PDF, paste into a contract, attach to an email, or drop into a Word, Pages, or Google Docs document. The Draw mode runs on an HTML canvas with pointer and touch support, so you can sign with a mouse, a trackpad, a finger, or a stylus. Strokes are smoothed with quadratic curves (the standard signature pad algorithm) so the trace reads as a single fluid line rather than a chain of straight segments. Each stroke is stored separately, which means Undo removes only the last pen-down to pen-up motion and the export panel can render the same signature into both a PNG and a vector SVG without re-tracing pixels. The Type mode renders your name in a handwriting-style font (brush script, chancery, roundhand, Bradley hand, Segoe Script, Lucida handwriting) and stays as crisp on a 4K monitor as on a phone. Output is a 1200 x 400 pixel image by default with optional 2x and 3x scales for print-quality results. The background can be transparent (the default, ideal for stamping onto an existing page) or solid white (friendlier for some print pipelines). The Copy PNG button places the image on the system clipboard so you can paste it straight into Word, Pages, Google Docs, Photoshop, Preview, or any email composer that accepts inline images. Useful for signing PDF contracts, NDAs, freelance invoices, school forms, lease agreements, tax forms, returns slips, and any other document that expects a handwritten mark, and for adding a cursive signature line to an email footer or a HTML CV. Everything happens locally in the browser. The pen strokes, the typed name, and the PNG and SVG files never leave your device, and no account, login, or upload is required.
