Add Text to Image

Add text, captions, watermarks, or memes to any photo in your browser. Pick a font, color, position, and outline, then download a PNG, JPG, or WebP.

How to use

  1. Drop an image onto the upload area or click to pick a PNG, JPG, WebP, BMP, or GIF (up to 25 MB).
  2. Type your caption, watermark, or label into the Text box. Press Enter for manual line breaks; long lines wrap automatically inside the image.
  3. Pick a Quick style (Soft watermark, Classic meme, Caption bar, or Top-left label) to apply a sensible preset, or fine-tune the font family, weight, size, color, and opacity yourself.
  4. Choose one of the nine anchor points to place the text, then adjust padding, line alignment, and rotation. Toggle outline, drop shadow, and the rounded background pill to match your photo.
  5. Pick PNG, JPEG, or WebP as the output format. For lossy formats, drag the Quality slider. PNG keeps full quality with no slider.
  6. Click Render full-size file, then click the Download button to save the result. The original image and your text never leave your browser.

About this tool

Add Text to Image is a browser-based photo captioner and watermark tool that draws editable text directly onto any raster image you load. Pick a PNG, JPG, WebP, BMP, or GIF (the first frame), and the original size is preserved end to end so the file you download has the same pixel dimensions as the source. Type one or many lines of text, then choose from six bundled font families covering sans serif (Helvetica), serif (Georgia), monospace (Menlo), Impact (the classic meme face), rounded (Trebuchet), and your operating system's UI font. Pick a weight and italic style, scale the size relative to the shorter side of the image so portrait and landscape photos stay readable, set a custom color and opacity, place the text on a nine-point anchor grid (top, middle, bottom paired with left, center, right), control padding from the chosen edge, set rotation between minus and plus 45 degrees, and adjust line height for multi-line text. For watermarks and memes you can layer an outline (stroke) with its own color and width, a soft drop shadow that keeps text readable on busy backgrounds, and a rounded background pill with adjustable color, opacity, and corner radius for caption-style layouts. Four one-click style presets (Soft watermark, Classic meme, Caption bar, Top-left label) jump-start the most common jobs without forcing you to set every slider yourself. The live preview repaints on every change at the full canvas resolution, so what you see is exactly what you get when you click Render full-size file. Choose the output format (PNG for lossless, JPEG for smaller files, WebP for modern browsers) and a quality slider for the lossy formats, then download a renamed copy of the original. Useful for adding watermarks to product photos before posting, captioning screenshots for documentation, labeling diagrams without booting a graphics editor, building social cards, putting top-and-bottom text on a meme template, adding a date or version stamp to a photo, or generating a quick before-and-after label for a comparison image. Everything happens locally in your browser. Your image, your text, and your settings never leave your device.
