How to use

  1. Pick a quick layout (1x3 panorama, 3x3 mosaic, 1x2 diptych, 3x4 twelve-grid, or story sequence), or set rows and columns by hand up to 8x8.
  2. Drop your image into the source zone or click to choose a PNG, JPG, WebP, BMP, or GIF up to 25 MB.
  3. Confirm the tile aspect ratio (Square 1:1 is the default for Instagram) and the fit mode: cover crop for a seamless panorama, contain for letterboxed tiles, or stretch.
  4. Click Split into N tiles. The preview grid below shows every tile with its reading order, IG upload order, dimensions, and file size.
  5. Click Download on any tile to save it, or Download all tiles to save them all in sequence. The filenames are numbered in reading order so you can sort them in any file manager.
  6. When you post to Instagram, follow the IG upload order labels: upload tile #1 first, tile #2 second, and so on. The mosaic then appears in correct reading order on your profile.

About this tool

Instagram Grid Splitter slices one source image into a rows-by-columns grid of equally sized tiles you can download separately and post one by one. The default 1x3 layout produces a classic Instagram panorama where one wide photo reads left to right across three square posts on your profile grid; the 3x3 preset produces the nine-square mosaic that lets a single big square photo dominate your profile. You can also pick a 3x1 vertical triptych, a 3x4 twelve-grid, a 1x2 diptych, or a 1x3 story sequence in 9:16, or set custom rows and columns up to 8x8 (64 tiles). The tile aspect ratio is locked to your choice (square 1:1 for Instagram, 4:5 portrait, 9:16 story, 16:9, and more), and the tool crops a centered band of your source so the resulting grid keeps that aspect cleanly, with no distortion. Pick from three fit modes: cover crop fills each tile and trims any overflow (best for panoramas); contain letterboxes each tile and pads the rest with a color or transparency you choose; stretch scales each slice to exactly fill the tile. The output runs entirely on a local canvas in your browser. Each tile renders to PNG, JPG, or WebP with a quality slider for the lossy formats, then appears in a preview grid with per-tile dimensions, byte size, and a Download button. The Download all tiles action triggers each save in sequence with a small delay so the browser only confirms multi-download once. Critically, the tool labels each tile with both its Reading order (left-to-right, top-to-bottom, the way a desktop viewer reads your profile) AND its Instagram upload order. Instagram appends new posts to the top of your profile, so to make the mosaic appear correctly you must upload the bottom-right tile FIRST and the top-left tile LAST; the IG upload order label on each tile tells you exactly which to post next. Useful for content creators planning a profile takeover, marketers launching a campaign, photographers showing a panorama in feed format, brands seeding a 9-tile product reveal, and anyone who wants a clean, branded profile grid without installing an app. Your image, the tile grid, and the rendered output stay entirely on your device.
