How to use

1. 1Drop a PNG, JPG, WebP, BMP, or GIF onto the upload area, or click to pick one. The image stays in your browser and is never uploaded.
2. 2Pick an aspect ratio. Free-form lets you drag any rectangle; locked ratios snap the crop to 1:1, 16:9, 4:5, 9:16, 3:2, 4:3, or 21:9.
3. 3Drag inside the rectangle to move it, or pull a corner or edge handle to resize. Click and drag on a blank area to draw a fresh rectangle.
4. 4Optional: Rotate 90, Flip horizontal, or Flip vertical. The crop rectangle stays in the displayed image's coordinate space.
5. 5Pick an output format (PNG, JPEG, WebP, or Keep original). Set the quality slider for JPEG and WebP. PNG output is always lossless.
6. 6Click Crop image to render the result, then Download cropped image. Use Reset crop to re-center the rectangle or Crop full image to start from the entire frame.

About this tool

Image Cropper trims JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, and GIF images down to the rectangle you choose, all inside your browser. Drop an image, drag the crop window over the live preview, and the dimmed mask plus rule-of-thirds guides show exactly what will be kept. Edge handles let you stretch one side at a time; corner handles resize freely; clicking on a blank area starts a fresh rectangle. Aspect-ratio buttons cover the eight ratios that real-world workflows ask for (free-form, 1:1 square, 4:3, 16:9, 3:2 photo, 9:16 portrait, 4:5 portrait, and 21:9 ultrawide), and named presets jump straight to Instagram square, Instagram portrait, Story or Reel 9:16, X post 16:9, Open Graph 1.91:1, YouTube thumbnail 16:9, and Facebook cover sizing so the crop matches the platform you are publishing for. Rotate 90 cycles the image through 90, 180, and 270 degrees, while Flip horizontal and Flip vertical mirror the image; the crop rectangle always stays in the user-visible coordinate space, so the rectangle you see is exactly the rectangle you get. Numeric X, Y, Width, and Height fields let you nudge the crop to a precise pixel rectangle when a screenshot or layout asks for it. Output goes to PNG, JPEG, WebP, or the source format with a quality slider for the lossy encoders, and JPEG output gets a clean white background so PNG transparency does not turn black. Cropping is done by drawing the rotated and flipped source image onto an off-screen HTMLCanvasElement and reading back only the cropped sub-rectangle with canvas.toBlob, the same pipeline every modern browser uses for native image work. The result is a one-click download with a sensible filename like photo.crop.1080x1080.jpg. The whole flow happens locally: the input file is held as an object URL, the canvas runs in your tab, and the output blob is downloaded without ever touching a server, which makes the tool safe for unreleased designs, watermarked client photos, ID and document scans, screenshots of internal tools, and anything else you would rather not hand to a third party. Useful for trimming wallpaper to a specific monitor size, framing product photos, fitting images into Open Graph cards, cropping headshots to perfect squares, lining up profile pictures, prepping images for printing at standard photo sizes, removing edges and watermarks from screenshots, slicing assets for design tools, or just cutting an image down before posting it online.
