How to use

1. 1Pick a mode at the top: From a duration to count down for a set amount of time, or Until a date and time to count down to a future moment in your local time zone.
2. 2In duration mode, set hours, minutes, and seconds, or click a quick preset like 5 min, 25 min, or 1 hour. In date mode, pick a target date and a 24-hour target time.
3. 3Click Start (or press Space) to begin. The display ticks down in real time, the progress bar fills, and the browser tab title shows the remaining time so the countdown is glanceable from a background tab.
4. 4Click Pause (Space) to freeze a duration countdown, then Resume to pick up where you left off. Click Reset (R) to return to the configured starting time.
5. 5When the timer reaches zero, a short audible chime plays. Toggle 'Play a chime when the timer reaches zero' off if you prefer a silent finish, or 'Update the browser tab title with the remaining time' off to keep your tab name unchanged.
6. 6Click Copy target to copy the configured duration or target moment to your clipboard for sharing or logging.

Countdown Timer is a precise, in-browser countdown that runs in two modes. From a duration you set hours, minutes, and seconds and tick down to zero, with Pause and Resume so you can step away without losing your place. To a date and time you pick a future moment in your local time zone and the timer ticks down to that exact instant, useful for event countdowns, deadline reminders, exam timers, holiday and new year countdowns, launch days, or any moment you want to watch arrive. Quick presets cover the most common timers people search for: 1, 3, 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, and 45 minute timers, plus 1 hour and 2 hour timers, all one click away. The remaining time is displayed in a large monospace HH:MM:SS readout, with a long-form summary like '1 hour, 23 minutes, 45 seconds remaining' for screen readers and a horizontal progress bar showing how much of the total has elapsed. When the timer reaches zero a short three-tone audible chime plays through the Web Audio API, with no external sound files. The chime can be turned off with one checkbox if you prefer a silent finish. The browser tab title updates with the remaining time so the countdown stays glanceable from a background tab; this can also be turned off. Time in duration mode is anchored to the browser's monotonic clock (performance.now), so the count keeps accurate even if your system clock changes, the device sleeps briefly, or rAF coalesces frames. Time in to-date mode is anchored to wall-clock time (Date.now), so the count remains correct against the calendar even across long pauses, system sleep, or daylight-saving transitions. Keyboard shortcuts speed up serious use: Space toggles Start, Pause, and Resume, and R resets when paused or finished.
