Common starting points

How the conversion works

Lower the temperature. Air fryers move hot air fast, so drop the recipe temperature by about 25 °F (15 to 20 °C) so the outside does not burn before the inside is done.
Shorten the time. The same airflow cooks faster, so cut the cook time by roughly 20 percent and start checking earlier than that.
Do not overcrowd. Food needs space for air to circulate. Cook in a single layer and in batches if needed, shaking or flipping at the halfway mark.

Times are guidelines for a preheated basket air fryer and vary by model and basket size. Always cook meat, poultry, and fish to a safe internal temperature; the notes list USDA safe minimums where they apply.

Air fryer tips

  • Preheat for crisp results. Run the empty basket for 2 to 3 minutes at the target temperature before adding food, especially for breaded or frozen items.
  • Shake or flip halfway. Tossing food at the midpoint gives even browning, just like the chart notes suggest.
  • Use a light oil coat. A spray or toss of oil on fresh vegetables and proteins helps them crisp without deep frying.
  • Mind the wattage. A larger or higher-wattage air fryer may cook faster, so treat the calculated time as a starting point and check early.

Quick reference

  • 400 °F oven becomes 375 °F: the most common swap; cut the time by about a fifth.
  • 350 °F oven becomes 325 °F: gentle bakes and reheats translate the same way.
  • Chicken to 165 °F (74 °C): poultry is always cooked to this internal temperature, whatever the timer says.
  • Frozen needs no thaw: most frozen snacks go straight in; add a couple of minutes versus fresh.

How to use

  1. Pick Fahrenheit or Celsius, then type the oven temperature and cook time from your recipe. Toggling the unit converts the value you already entered.
  2. Read the air fryer setting: the lowered temperature in both units and the shortened time, with the minutes you save versus the oven.
  3. Adjust the temperature drop or time reduction if your air fryer runs hot or you prefer the food more or less done. Defaults match the standard 25 degree, 20 percent rule.
  4. Tap a common starting point such as 400 degrees for 25 minutes to load it, or send a food from the chart into the converter with the Use button.
  5. Search the cooking-times chart or filter by category to find a temperature and time for a specific food, with notes on shaking, flipping, and safe internal temperatures.
  6. Copy the result or the whole chart as a table. Everything stays in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

About this tool

Air Fryer Conversion Calculator answers the two questions people search for most when they move from the oven to an air fryer: what temperature and time should I set, and how long does a given food take. It does both in one place and runs entirely in your browser. The converter takes the temperature and cook time printed in any oven recipe and returns the air fryer equivalent using the standard rule of thumb that appliance makers and recipe sites publish: lower the temperature by about 25 degrees Fahrenheit (roughly 15 to 20 degrees Celsius) and shorten the time by about 20 percent. Air fryers are small convection ovens, so the moving hot air cooks the surface of food faster; without lowering the temperature the outside can brown or burn before the centre is done, and without shortening the time the food overcooks. Both the temperature drop and the time reduction are adjustable, because equipment wattage, basket size, and food type all matter, but the defaults match the common guidance and the presets cover the temperatures most recipes use, such as a 400 degree oven becoming 375 in the air fryer. You can enter the recipe temperature in Fahrenheit or Celsius and the result is shown in both, with the dial value rounded the way an air fryer is actually set: Fahrenheit to the nearest five degrees, Celsius to a whole number, and the time rounded to a setting a cook would really choose. Below the converter is a searchable cooking-times chart for popular foods grouped into chicken, beef and pork, fish and seafood, vegetables, and frozen snacks. Each row lists the temperature, a realistic time range, and a short note about shaking, flipping, cooking from frozen, or the safe internal temperature where food safety depends on it. The times follow the widely published home-cooking guidelines for a preheated basket air fryer, and the internal-temperature notes follow the USDA safe minimums, so poultry is always taken to 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius) whatever the timer says. You can filter the chart by keyword or category, send any food straight into the converter to fine tune it, and copy the converted setting or the whole chart as a table for a shopping list or a recipe note. Because air fryers vary, the tool tells you to preheat, avoid overcrowding the basket, shake or flip at the halfway point, and check a few minutes early; the numbers are a reliable starting point, not a guarantee. Nothing you type is uploaded, logged, or stored.
