About this tool

WhatsApp Text Formatter wraps your message with WhatsApp's built-in formatting markers so the words display as bold, italic, strikethrough, monospace, bulleted lists, numbered lists, or block quotes inside any chat. WhatsApp uses a small inline syntax that is not standard Markdown: single asterisks for bold (*bold*), single underscores for italic (_italic_), single tildes for strikethrough (~strike~), and single backticks for an inline monospace span. Triple backticks on their own line open a multi-line code block, an asterisk or hyphen followed by a space at the start of a line starts a bulleted list, a digit followed by a dot and a space starts a numbered list, and a right-angle bracket starts a block quote. The toolbar inserts the right marker around your current text selection so you do not have to remember which symbol does which job, and the live preview renders the result with the same kind of chat-bubble layout WhatsApp shows on Android, iOS, and Web. The preview is built from a parsed node tree rather than from a raw HTML string, so the rendering is XSS-safe; nothing you type is interpreted as HTML. A Copy formatted button grabs the message with its markers intact and ready to paste into any WhatsApp chat. A Copy plain button strips every marker for cases where you want the message without formatting. Character, word, and line counts update live, and a small reference card shows every supported marker side by side with the rendered output. Useful for sending a polished update to a customer, formatting a quick standup note in a work group, prepping a status post in a Communities channel, writing a clear instruction list to a family group, or anyone who has ever asked how to make text bold in WhatsApp. Everything runs in your browser. The text you type stays on your device.
