Tips

  • Search by name or job. Try tick for check marks, money for currency symbols, or half for fractions.
  • Click any character to copy the real Unicode glyph to your clipboard. Paste into a document, chat, or input field.
  • The Accented and Greek categories cover the most common letters for names and equations: enye, eszett, theta, lambda, sigma, omega.
  • Looking for picture emoji instead? Use the Emoji Finder. Looking up a single hidden character? Use the Unicode Character Inspector.

How to use

  1. Type a keyword into the search box (try arrow, check, degree, dollar, omega, or n tilde), or click a category to browse.
  2. Click any character tile to copy the real Unicode glyph to your clipboard.
  3. Open the destination app or input and paste with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V.
  4. Reuse a recent pick from the Recently copied row at the top of the page.
  5. Use Reset filters to clear the search and category and start over.

About this tool

Special Character Finder is a copy-and-paste keyboard for the characters that are not standard keys and not picture emoji. The dataset is hand-curated for the jobs people actually need: a degree sign, a check mark, a typographic arrow, a fraction, a currency symbol, an accented letter, a Greek letter, a math operator, or a stylish bracket. Each character is annotated with a short name and search keywords, so typing tick finds every check mark, money finds every currency sign, n tilde finds enye, and right arrow finds every rightward arrow regardless of style. Categories cover arrows, currency, math, fractions, punctuation, stars and hearts, geometric shapes, brackets, music, technical and keyboard glyphs, accented Latin letters, the Greek alphabet, and legal marks like copyright, registered, trademark, and the section sign. Click any tile to copy the real Unicode character to your clipboard. A small recent list at the top of the page remembers your last twelve picks for fast re-use during the current session; nothing is uploaded and nothing is written to disk. Useful when writing a paper that needs Greek variables, naming a file with a degree sign, finishing a username that does not allow accents, replying to a customer with a typographic check mark, or building a price tag with the right currency symbol for the locale.
