LinkedIn Post Preview

Preview how a URL will look as a LinkedIn link share card on desktop, mobile, and in a direct message. Validate og: tags and copy a ready-to-paste meta block.

Mode

Build a card from scratch, or paste an HTML head to validate the existing tags.

Card fields

These map to the og:* and twitter:* meta tags LinkedIn scrapes from your page.

The canonical https URL of the page being shared.

63 / 150

Bold headline of the feed card.

148 / 300

Used by the small thumbnail card and link unfurl. The standard feed card does not show this.

Absolute https URL. Use 1200 x 627 (1.91 : 1) for the large feed card.

Plain text alt for assistive tech reading the link card.

Used by LinkedIn for the cached card. Defaults to the domain when empty.

LinkedIn does not change card layout by type, but article is the conventional value for blog posts.

Validation

Checks LinkedIn's documented limits and the recommended og: tags.

0 errors0 warnings0 info

Looks good. No issues found in the current tags.

Meta tags

Paste this block inside the <head> of your page. LinkedIn reads the og:* tags, plus twitter:* as a fallback.

How to use

  1. Choose Builder to enter card fields manually, or Validate HTML to paste a page's <head> section and extract the existing og:* and twitter:* tags automatically.
  2. Watch the Desktop feed share, Mobile feed share, and Messenger preview update live as you edit. The desktop card switches to the small thumbnail layout when og:image is missing, too small, or has an off-1.91:1 aspect ratio.
  3. Fix every Error and Warning in the Validation panel. The character counts next to og:title and og:description turn amber near the soft limit and rose past LinkedIn's hard clip.
  4. Check the og:image diagnostics for the loaded image dimensions and aspect ratio. The recommended size is 1200 x 627 (1.91:1) for the large feed card.
  5. Copy the generated Meta tags block and paste it inside the <head> of your page. LinkedIn will pick up the new tags the next time it scrapes the URL.

About this tool

LinkedIn Post Preview shows how a URL will render as a link share card on LinkedIn before you paste it into the composer. Enter your title, description, image URL, canonical URL, and site name, or paste a full HTML head and the tool extracts every og:* and twitter:* meta tag with DOMParser so scripts and remote resources inside the pasted HTML never run or fetch. Three live previews render the same card LinkedIn shows in the wild: the desktop feed share card with the 1.91:1 image on top and a bold one or two line title underneath, the mobile feed share card matching the iOS and Android LinkedIn apps, and the compact message thumbnail card the recipient sees when the link is sent through a LinkedIn direct message. A built-in validator checks every documented limit and recommendation: og:title clipped around 150 characters with a soft warning at 70 to avoid the desktop second-line wrap, og:description used by the small thumbnail and unfurl layouts (warning at 200, error at 300), og:image minimum 200 x 200 and recommended 1200 x 627 (1.91:1) with aspect ratio tolerance reporting so you know when the image will trigger the small left-thumbnail layout instead of the large feed card, og:url canonical https check, og:type informational note, optional article:author and article:published_time fields, and twitter:card and twitter:image fallbacks LinkedIn honors when og:image is missing. A diagnostics panel reports the actual image dimensions, aspect ratio, and whether the URL is reachable in this browser, useful when the official LinkedIn Post Inspector returns nothing because the link is gated, draft, or behind authentication. The tool also generates a ready-to-paste meta tag block tuned for LinkedIn that includes og:type, og:url, og:title, og:description, og:image, og:image:alt, og:site_name, the optional article:* tags when og:type is article, plus twitter:card summary_large_image and twitter:image, twitter:title, and twitter:description as a fallback set. Everything runs in your browser; the URL, title, description, image URL, and any HTML you paste never leave your device.
