Image Drop Shadow Generator

Add a soft drop shadow behind any image and download a transparent PNG, WebP, or JPEG. Tune blur, offset, spread, color, and opacity in your browser.

How to use

  1. Drop an image onto the upload area or click to browse. A transparent PNG gives the cleanest shadow around the subject.
  2. Pick a preset like Soft, Material, Long, Hard, or Glow to start, then fine-tune from there.
  3. Adjust Blur, Offset X and Y, Spread, and Opacity, and set the shadow color and margin to taste.
  4. Choose PNG or WebP to keep transparency, or JPEG with a background color, and set the quality for WebP and JPEG.
  5. Click Add shadow and export, then Download image to save the file. Nothing is uploaded.

About this tool

Image Drop Shadow Generator bakes a soft drop shadow directly into an image and exports the result as a transparent PNG, WebP, or JPEG, all on a local canvas with nothing uploaded. Drop a PNG, JPG, WebP, BMP, or GIF and the shadow is cast from the visible pixels: a transparent PNG (a logo, icon, product cutout, or app screenshot with rounded corners) keeps the shadow hugging the real silhouette, while a rectangular photo gets a clean shadow behind the whole frame. Five sliders give you the same controls a CSS box-shadow exposes, but rendered into actual pixels: Blur (0 to 120 px) for a hard edge or a wide diffuse halo, Offset X and Offset Y (-120 to 120 px) to push the shadow in any direction, Spread (0 to 60 px) to grow the shadow beyond the image edge, and Opacity (0 to 100 percent) for how strong it reads. A color picker with a hex field sets the shadow color so you can go from a neutral black drop shadow to a colored glow, and a margin control adds breathing room around the subject so the blur is never clipped at the canvas edge. The live preview shows transparency as a checkerboard and updates as you tune every value, and the same draw path is used for the full-resolution export so what you see is what you download. PNG and WebP keep the area around the shadow fully transparent; JPEG, which has no alpha channel, fills that area with a background color you choose. Useful for product shots, marketing imagery, app and website screenshots, presentation slides, social posts, app store assets, and any mockup that needs a polished shadow without opening a heavy image editor.
